Instruction & Practice
My experience... I use many of these programs for informal learning. I have several podcasts that I subscribe to that broaden my thinking and views, a few language games that help me improve my Spanish skills, and of course Youtube, to find out "how to _____." |
Computer-Assisted InstructionComputer-assisted instruction (CAI) can be used to learn about almost anything. Often presented in video format, CAI aims to teach you something specific, for example, how to use a computer program or how to change the oil in your car. Youtube has many CAI-style videos, but there are other places to look as well. Check with your educational institution or your employer to see if they hold subscriptions to some of the paid CAI services for their students or employees.

StudyingYou can use apps to help you study. They are especially effective for rote-learning tasks, such as memorizing terms or learning new vocabulary in another language. You create you own question sets and the app turns these into flashcards and offers you a variety of review tasks and even games. Some apps also have pre-made question sets, or allow you to search for question sets made by other users.
